As retirees think about restarting travel with renewed purpose, sharing travel memories with loved ones can be a meaningful way to increase their fulfillment and further the legacy to their families.  Sallie Lewis, a contributor to Conde Nast Traveler magazine, recently wrote a heartfelt piece about the gift that her grandparents left her through their love of travel.  During their lifetimes, they thoughtfully documented their travels in over 400 pages of journal entries before their passing.  She describes their travel diaries as the most treasured item they left behind to her.

Journaling may not be your passion, but there are many creative ways to consider how your travel adventures could leave a lasting legacy for future generations.   For example, you may choose to invite family members along for the journey, or you may find other fun ways to engage them in the memory of the trip: describing why you chose the location, sharing your itinerary, purchasing unique items for family members, and taking photos or videos.

Your legacy is a reflection of your values and includes both financial and non-financial components.  As you think about how your travel can emphasize your values, consider some fun and thoughtful ways your family can remember you through your love of travel with some inspiration from this article:
